FAMILY AND FRIENDS SPEAK OUT ABOUT LOVED ONE’S JAIL DEATH THREE INMATES DIE IN 48 HOURS AT HARRIS COUNTY JAIL

Ronald Erwin Pate, 35, died June 24, 2025, at Ben Taub Hospital 13 days after entering the Harris County jail and experiencing a medical problem. Early indications are he died after being administered a medication. He was in good health according to his family. Ronald leaves behind a wife and eleven-year old daughter. Two other jail inmates died in a 48-hour period bringing the admitted total of inmate deaths to ten-the same as all of last year, 2024.  

“This death needs an investigation such as by the Texas Rangers or FBI,” said civil rights and Pate family lawyer Randall Kallinen, “We are experiencing a surge in jail deaths.” A member of Ronald’s family, many friends, community members, and Pate lawyer Randall Kallinen will discuss he need for funding and better medical care at the Harris County jail at a press conference.  When: Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:00 PMWhere: Harris County Jail (outside); 1200 Baker Street, Houston 77002 (downtown)
