AUSTIN, Texas—The Independent Bankers Association
of Texas (IBAT) is proud to announce the addition of
Tim O’Brien, chief financial officer of Texas First Bank
in Texas City, to its board of directors for 2017-2018.
O’Brien was elected to this position during the association’s
43rd annual convention held early October in
Austin.
O’Brien’s community banking career spans more
than 40 years. He has been with Texas First Bank in his
current position for two years. Previously, he served as
chief financial officer and other positions at Memorial
City Bank, Comerica Bank and QuestStar Bank. Prior
to this new leadership role, O’Brien served on the IBAT
IT Committee years ago.
Involved in his community, O’Brien previously served
on the Junior Achievement of SE Texas Board, as well
as on its Executive and Education Committees for many
years. He also spent several years as a member on the
Fort Bend Economic Development Council Executive
Committee and served on the advisory board for Harris
County Community College’s Department of Banking.
While at Comerica Bank in Houston, he chaired the
March of Dimes campaign for 10 years, which raised
nearly $500,000.
O ’Brien r eceived a B achelor o f B usiness
Administration degree in business from Sam Houston
State University and is a graduate of the Intermediate
Banking School at Southern Methodist University.
Married for 31 years, he has three grown children. In
his personal time, he enjoys fishing and watching both
college and high school sports.
In his role on the IBAT board, O’Brien joins Chairman
Joe Kim King of Texas Country Bancshares in Brady,
Chairman-Elect Ronnie Miller of Community National
Bank in Hondo, Secretary-Treasurer Richard Scanio of
American Bank in Corpus Christi and Immediate Past
Chairman Darla Rooke of Junction National Bank in
Junction. Other additions to the board include Kelly
Barclay of Ozona National Bank in Wimberley, Michael
Murphy of Sage Capital Bank in Gonzales, Julie Mayrant
of Woodforest National Bank in The Woodlands, Cory
Newsom of City Bank Texas in Lubbock, Rodney
Ruthart of First United Bank in Dimmit (Amarillo branch),
Robb Temple of Independent Bank in McKinney, Brian
Schneider of First National Bank in Beeville and G.
Forrest Lloyd of Wellington State Bank in Wellington.
