By Krist Samaritan Counseling Center
In the wake of the recent tragedy at Santa Fe High School on May 18, 2018, Krist Samaritan Counseling
Center is now offering FREE counseling for those who attend school or work for Santa Fe ISD,
Hitchcock ISD, Dickinson ISD, or Texas City ISD.
Impacted individuals and families may choose to receive private counseling at the Center, located
at 16441 Space Center Blvd Suite C-100, Houston, TX 77058 or at the satellite location at Moody
Methodist Church, 2803 53rd St, Galveston, TX 77551. Pay stubs, student ID and other valid documentation
is required for the free-of-cost counseling program as it relates to the Santa Fe tragedy
and outreach.
Krist Samaritan’s highly trained staff will use counseling in order to:
Lessen the impact of the critical incident
Normalize instinctive reactions to the incident
Encourage the natural recovery process
Restore the adaptive functioning skills of the person and/or group
Determine the need for further supportive services or therapy
The goal is to offer up to 12 free sessions per individual or family seeking counseling and up to
eight group sessions for community members experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties
as a result of the Santa Fe High School shooting. There will be at least one group dedicated exclusively
to Santa Fe High School students, with the remaining groups to be determined based on needs
and requests of the community. For more information, interested parties can call the Center at (281)
480-7554.
Like the rest of the community, the state and the entire nation, Krist Samaritan is heartbroken and
saddened over the tragic loss of life, of innocence and the feeling of stability and safety as a result
of the shooting. But Krist and its staff is also poised and ready to do what it takes to wrap students,
faculty and local residents in comfort and counseling to begin processing and eventually, healing
together.
Krist Samaritan Counseling Center is also currently seeking out community partnerships with
churches and religious organizations in the Santa Fe, Dickinson, Hitchcock and Texas City areas in
order to better offer and amplify outreach and counseling. Interested representatives for local organizations
and churches are encouraged to reach out by calling 281-480-7554.
Krist Samaritan Counseling Center’s main office is located at 16441 Space Center Blvd., Houston,
TX, with multiple satellite locations throughout the region. The organization is a nationally recognized
non-profit with a mission to help those in need attain emotional, mental, and spiritual health through
counseling, education, and professional training programs. They strive to serve everyone regardless
of age, ethnicity, faith, or ability to pay in the greater Houston-Galveston region. Visit www.Samaritan-
