SOMETHING has to give at Henry Winston Stadium on Friday night as Richmond

Foster’s explosive offense meets a stingy Friendswood defense in a game where

the winner could awake as the lone undefeated team in District 10-5A-1.

Foster, 3-2 overall and 2-0 in district play, averages 38.8 points per game with an

attack led by junior quarterback Ryan Stubblefield and junior running back Isaac

Johnson. Stubblefield has thrown for 13 touchdowns with just two interceptions

while Johnson leads the Falcons with 718 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on

just 69 carries.

Friendswood, 5-0 and 2-0, has allowed an average of just 10.4 points a game,

holding each of their last four opponents to 14 points or less. The Mustangs came

within one play of recording a shutout in last week’s 35-7 win at Galveston Ball that

saw them limit the Tornadoes to 191 yards of offense.

“We’re playing well defensively,” said Friendswood coach Robert Koopman. “We

were very super proud of the way they played (on Friday) because they have a big

running back (Ball’s Clarence Dalton) over there.

The Mustangs’ D will be challenged by the Falcons receiving duo of senior

Shadeed Ahmed and sophomore Cody Jackson. The duo have combined for 44

catches for 733 yards and 11 touchdowns.

*Both Friendswood and Dickinson remained in their respective spots in the latest

Dave Campbell’s Texas High School Football state polls. The Mustangs are still

seventh in the Class 5A, Division I poll while Dickinson (6-0, 2-0 in 24-6A) stayed

at number 20 in the 6A poll following their 48-21 win over Clear Creek last Friday.

*Santa Fe receiver Austin Lamb has been among the most productive pass

catchers in the Houston area over the past two weeks. Lamb caught 11 passes for

204 yards and a touchdown in the Indians’ 49-31 win over Baytown Lee on Friday

night, giving him 21 receptions for 310 yards in his past two games.

Ball security was a key to the Indians’ win. Santa Fe’s offense executed 58 plays

and did not turn the ball over in a wild and entertaining contest that saw a combined

924 yards of total offense.

*La Marque native Brian Allen didn’t see a lot of snaps with the Steelers defense

in their 41-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday but showed why the team loves his

prowess on special teams.

Allen, who was added to the active roster last week, downed a punt at the Atlanta

2-yard in the fourth quarter, a play that set up an L.J. Fort fumble recovery in

the end zone for the Steelers’ final score of the day. Fort recovered a fumble that

was forced by linebacker T.J. Watt’s strip of quarterback Matt Ryan.

*Grambling’s visit to BBVA Compass Stadium for Saturday’s game against Tex as

Southern will be a homecoming for LaDarrian Ellis-Jones, who played at La

Marque High School before signing with the Tigers. The redshirt sophomore running

back has five carries and one touchdown along with one tackle in five games

with Grambling this season.
