She graduated from College of the Mainland with an Associate of Arts degree in 2001 and attended COM again in 2007 to obtain a real estate license, which she acquired in 2009 and still maintains. “College of the Mainland has been at the center of all of my professional goals,” said King. “My opportunities for higher education came later in life. COM’s location, reasonable cost, and dedicated staff are the reasons I succeeded. I’m proud to have the chance to serve an institution that gave so much to me.”

CAMPAIGN MISSION AND PURPOSE
Dawn believes that College of the Mainland has made great strides in developing a successful strategy to move the institution forward. Dr. Warren Nichols’ appointment as president and the dedication of staff and current board of trustees has proved to be the perfect formula.
Dawn’s mission is to make a positive contribution to a team that is committed to the successful growth of all the communities that College of the Mainland serves. She actively supported the bond election by serving on the COM Bond committee because she believes that quality education is the key to successful growth. While on the committee, she saw the magnificent potential that state of the art facilities and more degree opportunities could provide to the citizens of Galveston County. With the approval of the bond, that potential is now a reality.
Dawn has relevant experience in local government coupled with a strong personal desire to see her community thrive. This combination is an assurance to those that she represents that she will do her best for them every time, all the time.

Thank you for posting the announcement of Dawn King for the College of the Mainland (COM) Board of Trustees Position 4. Dawn is the type of individual who will ensure the continuous improvement process started by President Dr. Nichols and the current Board. We must have a candidate that also continues to support the regaining of the lost trust and confidence by the past Board. In addition, we need a candidate who will be a “long-term” Trustee.
Dawn King has all these qualities. As such, I am asking the voters of COM’s District 4 to get out to vote and support Dawn King. Thank you!
