Representative Mayes Middleton Files District Priorities
AUSTIN, TEXAS, February 14, 2019–Representative Mayes Middleton filed local priority bills in the Texas House of Representatives.
Middleton said in a statement: “I’ve knocked on over 6,000 doors because I wanted to hear about the issues that matter to the true owners of Texas House District 23, the voters, citizens, and taxpayers.  This is their office, and these are some of their priorities.” Representative Middleton then submitted the following bills to the House clerk:
House Bill 1772: Establishing a cap on premiums for Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) customers.
House Bill 1773: Requiring schools to use permanent facilities for classrooms, rather than administration office space.
House Bill 1774: Allowing the Port of Galveston to access the state’s Ship Channel Improvement Revolving Fund.
House Bill 1775: Outlawing “8-Liner” game rooms and enhancing authority of local district attorneys to prosecute game room operators.
Representative Middleton continued, “This continues what the voters in Galveston and Chambers Counties sent me here to do. I look forward to pursuing these and many other important legislative items during the upcoming session.”
