Baseball, softball under the sun as Spring Break begins
SPRING BREAK MEANS a week of no high school soccer, which resumes play on March 19.
However, the start of the week translates to a great reason to take a day off of work and enjoy
sun, fun and high school baseball and softball.
Sunday: The Astros take on the Nationals in spring training action beginning at 12:05pm. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will start its coverage with the pregame show at 11:30am. KBME 790AM
will also have the game over its airwaves.
Monday: There is high school softball in the daytime, as Hitchcock visits Boling and Clear
Springs at Dickinson each start at 1:00pm. Clear Falls at Alvin is at 6:30pm while Clear Creek at
Clear Lake begins at 6:45pm.
The Rockets open a stretch of four straight games at Toyota Center when they welcome the
Hornets for a 7:00pm start. Houston pulled out a 118-115 victory at Charlotte in the previous
meeting on February 27. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin its coverage with the pregame
show at 6:30pm.
A mini “homestand” ends for the Astros when they host the Mets at 12:05pm. AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest will begin coverage at 11:30am while KBME 790AM will have the radio portion of
the contest.
Tuesday: A busy afternoon of high school baseball starts with Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear
Springs at Clear Falls and Dickinson at Clear Lake at 1:00pm. Texas City at Friendswood and
Santa Fe at Galveston Ball begin at 2:00pm while Hitchcock at Boling begins at 7:00pm.
In high school softball, Crosby at Clear Falls, Galena Park at Friendswood and Texas City at
Goose Creek Memorial start at 1:00pm. Santa Fe at Baytown Lee will be under the lights at
6:30pm.
The Astros will get a taste of baseball under the lights when they visit the Nationals at 5:35pm.
For a third straight game, AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have television coverage starting at
5:00pm while KBME 790AM will have the radio side of things.
Dynamo fans will have to stay up late to catch them taking on Tigres in CONCACAF Champions
League play. The 10:00pm start can be seen on both Univision Deportes Network and on
Yahoo! Sports.
