While last week had a handful of games, this weekend will be filled with college football as the opening week kicks off. The day is a nice dessert after a main dish of (Thursday and) Friday night football throughout the area.
Wednesday: The Astros face the visiting White Sox at 7:10 PM. Space City Home Network starts coverage at 6:30 PM with the pregame show.
Thursday: A pair of games begin Week 2 as Clear Falls is at Kingwood at 6:30 PM and Clear Creek at Houston Memorial at 7 PM.
Meanwhile, volleyball will be highlighted by the CCISD Tournament, with Friendswood traveling to participate in the Orlando Tournament.
The series between the White Sox and Astros finishes at 1:10 PM. Space City Home Network starts the pregame show at 12:30 PM.
Friday: The high school football slate begins at 7 PM with Clear Brook at Friendswood, Houston Heights at Clear Springs, Katy at Dickinson, Hitchcock at Wheatley (Cowart), La Marque at Bay City, Needville at Santa Fe, and Sterling at Texas City.
High school volleyball will have Dickinson at Alvin, Ball at Santa Fe, and Pasadena at Texas City at 6:30 PM.
There will be a playoff atmosphere as the Astros welcome a Diamondbacks team that is pursuing a National League Wild Card berth. Space City Home Network begins the pregame show at 6:30 PM, leading into the game at 7:10 PM.
Saturday: College football kicks off at 11 AM with Oregon State at #23 Houston (ESPN), followed at 2:30 PM by Texas State at #5 Texas (ESPN). Missouri State at #8 Texas A&M (ESPN), Abilene Christian at #12 Texas Tech (FS1), Houston Christian at Rice (ESPN+), and Sam Houston State at Troy (ESPN+) kick off at 6 PM, while Lamar at Louisiana (ESPN+) and East Texas at Stephen F. Austin (ESPN+) begin at 7 PM.
Game two of the Diamondbacks and Astros will get national coverage as KRIV26 will have the matchup beginning at 6:15 PM, with the pregame show starting at 6 PM.
