ASTROS FANS HOPE TO wake up Sunday morning with the prospects of at least one more game being played. Imagine how they’d feel if they woke up on Tuesday morning and a Game 6 was being played at Minute Maid Park.
Sunday: Astros fans hope the results of Games 3 and 4 will lead to a Game 5. If necessary, it will be at Nationals Park beginning at 7:07pm. Depending on the outcome of Games 3 and 4, the starter for Game 5 will be in question, although it is likely it will be Justin Verlander taking the mound for the Astros against Nats hurler Stephen Strasburg in a rematch of Game 2. Fox 26 will have the game starting at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
The Houston sports day starts earlier when the Texans host the Raiders. Both teams sit in second place in their respective divisions and come off tough losses in Week 7, as Houston fell at Indianapolis and Oakland was pelted by Green Bay. KHOU 11 will have the game beginning at 3:25pm.
Monday: Fall league softball resumes at Texas City High School’s softball field. Games begin at 5:00pm and will conclude at 9:30pm.
The Rockets welcome back Chris Paul as the Thunder make their first appearance to Toyota Center beginning at 7:00pm. Paul was traded to Oklahoma City over the summer in the blockbuster deal that brought Russell Westbrook to Houston. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Tuesday: The final Tuesday of high school volleyball’s regular season gets underway at 4:30pm when Seven Lakes visits Clear Falls, followed by Bay City at La Marque at 5:00pm. Clear Lake at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Springs, Alvin at Dickinson and Hitchcock at East Bernard each start at 6:00pm, with Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial, Galena Park at Santa Fe and Galveston Ball at Texas City start at 6:30pm.
Texas City’s boys golf team will be at Clear Creek Golf Club for an event that is hosted by Clear Creek. The other four CCISD schools will be among the teams represented.
There is also the possibility of a World Series Game 6 that would bring things back to Houston. The Astros would have to win two out of three over the weekend to make the 7:07pm start a reality.
