WITH FOOTBALL IN the rearview mirror, the local sports scene will still have plenty to offer. The big event will be in the high schools of Clear Creek ISD where seven of the area’s 11 boys’ basketball teams take part in the Carlisle Tournament.
Wednesday: The one event on the local calendar will have Brazsowood at Clear Springs in a swimming and diving meet at 6:00pm.
Thursday: The place to be for boys’ high school basketball will be at the Carlisle Tournament that will be held throughout the high schools of Clear Creek ISD. Not only will Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Clear Lake and Clear Springs be in competition, Galveston Ball, La Marque and Texas City will also be in action during the three-day event. Meanwhile, Friendswood will be at the Needville Tournament, Hitchcock participates at the Bay City Tourney and Santa Fe embarks to Splendora to take part in that ISD’s annual tourney.
There will also be a host of girls’ basketball teams in tournament play, with Clear Brook in the Pflugerville Tournament, Clear Falls at the Phillips 66 Katy Tournament, Clear Springs at the Deer Park Tourney, Santa Fe at the Lamar Consolidated Tournament and Texas City at the Athens Tourney.
Not enough basketball? Well, the Rockets will take care of that as they visit the defending NBA Champion Raptors beginning at 6:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage of the game starting with the pregame show at 6:00pm.
Friday: Three girls’ basketball games are on the schedule. Clear Creek at Cy Ranch starts at 5:00pm, followed by Brazosport at Galveston Ball at 5:45pm. North Forest visits La Marque at 6:00pm.
The high school wrestling slate will be busy as Clear Brook takes part in the two-day Morton Ranch Invitational. Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Springs will be among the teams hiting the mat at The Woodlands Tournament, with Friday’s action starting at 4:30pm before starting early Saturday (9:00am).
Saturday: Texas City’s swimming and diving teams will take part in the Brazosport Inviatational beginning at 9:00am.
Following a brief two-game road trip, the Rockets return home for a date against the Suns starting at 7:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins its coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
