BASEBALL, POWERLIFTING BEGINS ITS TURN TO SHINE

A diverse sports schedule adds more to the party as powerlifting season
opens throughout the state. The week is also highlighted by the first day
of high school baseball practice, which begins on Friday.
WEDNESDAY: The boys’ high school basketball schedule will have Clear Lake
at state-ranked Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Brazoswood and Clear Falls at
state-ranked Dickinson each beginning at 7:00pm.
The girls’ high school hoops slate has state-ranked Clear Brook at Clear Lake,
Clear Falls at Brazoswood and Dickinson at Clear Falls also starting at 7:00pm.
La Marque’s powerlifting team kicks off its season when they visit Crosby for a
meet. Hitchcock’s girls’ powerlifting squad is also in action as the Bulldogs host
a meet at 4:00pm.
The Rockets continue its west coast swing with an 8:00pm tip at the Jazz. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 7:30pm with the pregame show.
THURSDAY: Clear Springs girls’ soccer team will be among the programs taking
part in the elite Governor’s Cup Tournament, which will be held in Georgetown
thru Saturday.
Santa Fe’s tennis team is in action at the Wilson Blast Tournament at Pasadena.
Texas City gets its powerlifting season underway as they host a meet in the
Stingdome starting at 4:00pm.
FRIDAY: Boys’ high school soccer is on the slate with Clear Springs at MacArthur beginning at 7:00pm, followed by Clear Brook at Fulshear, Clear Falls at
Dawson, Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Lee at Galveston
Ball, Baytown Sterling at Santa Fe and Manvel at Texas City at 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, the girls’ high school soccer schedule has Dawson at Clear Creek at
6:00pm, followed by Pasadena Memorial at Clear Falls at 7:00pm. Clear Brook
at Shadow Creek, Goose Creek Memorial at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at
Baytown Lee, Santa Fe at Baytown Sterling and Texas City at Manvel each begin at 7:30pm.
The boys’ basketball schedule has Hempstead at state-ranked Hitchcock at
5:00pm, followed by state-ranked La Marque at Stafford at 6:30pm. Goose
Creek Memorial at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, Santa Fe at
Baytown Sterling and Texas City at Manvel tip off at 7:00pm.
For the girls’ basketball schedule, Hempstead at Hitchcock and Stafford at La
Marque gets underway at 6:30pm, with Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial,
Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball, Baytown Sterling at Santa Fe and Manvel at
Texas City also start at 7:00pm.
The Rockets conclude a five-game road trip with a visit to the Warriors starting at
9:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins the pregame show at 8:30pm.
SATURDAY: District 24-6A boys’ hoops has Clear Falls at state-ranked Clear
Brook, state-ranked Dickinson at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Clear Lake
each starting at 1:00pm.
The district’s girls’ schedule has state-ranked Clear Brook at Clear Falls, Clear
Creek at Dickinson and Clear Lake at Clear Springs also starting at 1:00pm.
