Congratulations to the Friendswood Mustangs baseball team, which finished second in 5A after losing a 2-1 nailbiter to Georgetown in Saturday’s title game at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Coach Cory Benavides’ squad carried not only the banner of Friendswood, but also had the support of all Galveston County, which also salutes the efforts of the young men who made the county proud during its remarkable run to being one of the final two teams in the state left standing.
