BUSY IS ONE way to describe the upcoming sports schedule….
TODAY, WEDNESDAY: Dreams will be realized as National Signing Day commences
for high school student-athletes fortunate to take their talents to the collegiate level.
Players who did not ink letters of intent during early National Signing Day in late
December will do so in front of famlily, friends and coaches.
The Rockets conclude their road trip with a visit to the Heat beginning at 6:30pm.
AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins coverage at 6:00pm with the pregame show.
TOMORROW, THURSDAY: A variety of junior high and subvarsity sporting events will
dot the landscape prior to a Friday that will require a deep breath just to describe the
upcoming day’s docket….
FRIDAY: ….Here goes…
The boys basketball schedule will have Clear Brook at Alvin, Clear Lake at Clear
Creek, Clear Falls at Dickinson, Galveston Ball at Fort Bend Elkins, state-ranked
Texas City at Fort Bend Marshall and Santa Fe at Manvel beginning at 7:00pm.
Friendswood at Clear Springs and East Bernard at state-ranked Hitchcock each start
at 7:30pm.
In boys soccer, Galveston Ball at Fort Bend Marshall and Santa Fe at Shadow Creek
each start at 7:00pm, while Texas City at Manvel is a 7:10pm start. Dickinson at
Clear Creek, Friendswood at Clear Lake and Clear Brook at Clear Springs begin their
matches at 7:30pm.
Girls soccer action begins at 7:00pm with Fort Bend Marshall at Galveston Ball and
Shadow Creek at Santa Fe. Manvel visits Texas City at 7:10pm, while Clear Springs
at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Dickinson and Clear Lake at Friendswood each start
at 7:30pm.
A busy day of baseball scrimmages will have Pasadena Memorial at Clear Brook,
Deer Park at Clear Creek, Galveston Ball at Clear Springs beginning at 4:00pm. Texas
City at Clear Falls, Friendswood at Fort Bend Elkins and Brazoswood at Santa Fe are
each 4:30pm starts.
The day’s softball scrimmages will include La Marque at Pasadena High at 5:00pm,
while Texas City at Baytown Lee and Shadow Creek at Clear Creek start at 6:00pm.
Clear Brook visits Goose Creek Memorial at 6:30pm.
Among the tennis teams in action are Friendswood and Texas City, which will participate
in the Pasadena Tournament, while Santa Fe hits the road to face Dobie.
The area’s first major track and field event will be at Clear Brook as a host of area
teams will compete in the Wolverine Winter Relays.
Capping off the day will be the Rockets, who return home to meet the Nuggets for a
7:00pm tip. AT&T Southwest will have the coverage starting with the pregame show
at 6:30pm.
SATURDAY: Texas City will among the area powerlifiting teams taking part in the
Alvin Lift, one of the final events before district meets are held. Likewise, La Marque
is on the road with its powerlifiting team, which will be at the Tidehaven Meet.
Also getting off to an early start is the Santa Fe softball team, which will be at a scrimmage
at Dobie beginning at 8:00am.
