SOFTBALL launches its regular season while girls basketball begins its run to the state
championship while the final night of the boys basketball regular season will see teams
attempt to either bolster their playoff chances or fighting just to play beyond Tuesday night.
TODAY, SUNDAY: The Rockets welcome the Mavericks to Toyota Center for a 6:00 tip that
will be aired by both AT&T Sports Southwest, which starts its coverage witht the pregame
show at 5:30pm and NBA TV. Houston has won the first two meeting this season, defeating
Dallas 107-91 on October 21 and followed up with a 104-97 victory on January 24.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: Hitchcock begins its bid for a trip to San Antonio and the state
girls basketball Final Four when the state-ranked Bulldogs face Anahuac in a Class 3A,
Region III bi-district round game that will be played at North Shore High School at 6:30pm.
The district champions of 24-3A will come into the contest with a record of 24-6.
Weather permitting, the high school softball regular season starts with Santa Fe at Clear
Creek beginning at 6:30pm. The weather could also impact a host of baseball scrimmages
as Clear Brook at Santa Fe, Clear Falls at Fort Bend Travis and South Houston at Texas
City each start at 4:00pm. Episcopal is at Clear Springs beginning at 5:00pm.
In boys soccer, Manvel visits Santa Fe at 7:30pm. The girls soccer schedule will have Santa
Fe at Manvel beginning at 7:00pm, while Texas City is at Fort Bend Marshall starting at
7:10pm.
Galveston Ball hosts a 23-5A boys golf tournament at Galveston’s Moody Gardens, while
Texas City’s girls team will be among the area teams participating at Wilderness Golf
Course as Brazoswood plays host.
TUESDAY: Three other area girls basketball teams begin bi-district round play, with Clear
Creek facing Alief Elsik at Manvel High School at 6:00pm, the same time District 24-6A
champion Clear Springs faces the winner of Friday’s George Ranch/Alief Taylor play-in
game. The contest will be at Pearland High School. District 23-5A champ Galveston Ball
meets Houston Waltrip at Houston ISD’s Delmar Field House starting at 7:00pm.
The regular season finale of boys basketball will have Clear Creek at Clear Falls, Clear
Springs at Clear Lake, Dickinson at Clear Brook and Fort Bend Marshall at Santa Fe beginning
at 7:00pm. Alvin at Friendswood, state-ranked Hitchcock at Rice Consolidated, Brazos
at state-ranked La Marque and Fort Bend Elkins at state-ranked Texas City are each
7:30pm tips, with the Texas City game airing live on the Victory Sports Network beginning
at 7:20pm.
In boys soccer, Fort Bend Elkins at Galveston Ball starts at 7:00pm and Fort Bend Marshall
is at Texas City beginning at 7:10pm, while Alvin at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear
Lake, Clear Springs at Friendswood and Dickinson at Clear Falls are 7:30pm starts. The
girls soccer slate will start with Galveston Ball at Fort Bend Elkins at 7:00pm while Clear
Brook at Alvin, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Friendswood at Clear Springs and Clear Falls at
Dickinson start at 7:30pm.
Softball action willl have Dickinson at Galveston Ball, Manvel at Clear Brook and Santa Fe
at Clear Creek each starting their seasons at 6:30pm.
Baseball scrimmages continue with Clear Creek at Manvel at 4:00pm while St. Thomas
is at Friendswood at 4:30pm. Lutheran South is at Dickinson beginning at 5:00pm with
Galveston Ball at La Porte and Hitchcock at Brazosport each start at 6:00pm.
