The World Series champs come home to celebrate their title with the fans while the
rush toward a state championship starts with in golf and track and field.

TODAY, EASTER SUNDAY: Celebrate your Easter dinner with a Lone Star slugfest.
The Rockets visit the Spurs in a nationally televised game on ABC-13 beginning at
2:30pm. Houston entered the weekend with an NBA best 61-14 record and could
clinch homecourt throughout the playoffs with a victory over San Antonio. Winners of
ten straight leading into Friday’s game against the Suns, the Rockets have won each
of the three previous meetings against the Spurs this season.
AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have the finale of the weekend series between the
Astros and Rangers, with Gerritt Cole making his debut in a Houston uniform and
will be opposed by Texas hurler Mike Minor. Coverage begins at 1:30pm with the first
pitch starting at 2:05pm. Fox Sports Southwest will also have the game live for those
who seek the Rangers side of life.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: The road to state championship glory begins as the District
23-5A girls golf meet at Battleground Golf Course in Deer Park. The two-day event
will see the top contenders advance to the regional round on April 16.
The first day of the District 23-5A track and field championships begins with Santa
Fe playing the role of host this year. The district’s best of the best will advance to the
regional finals later this month at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
It’s going to be a special night at Minute Maid Park as the Astros host the Orioles in
their home opener beginning at 6:00pm. The World Series champions will have a ceremony
before the game to honor last season’s remarkable run prior to Charlie Morton
getting the start for Houston against Baltimore’s Chris Tillman. AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest and ESPN will have the game live, with AT&T’s pregame show beginning
at 5:00pm.
TUESDAY: Each of the 11 area high school baseball teams will be in action and will
have 7:00pm start times. Clear Lake is at Clear Brook while Clear Springs at Clear
Falls, Alvin at Dickinson, Texas City at Fort Bend Willowridge, Clear Creek at Friendswood,
Santa Fe at Galena Park, East Bernard at Hitchcock, Danbury at La Marque
and Galveston Ball at Shadow Creek completes the schedule.
The softball docket will have Alvin at Clear Springs, Clear Lake at Dickinson, Clear
Falls at Friendswood, East Bernard at Hitchcock and Galveston Ball at Santa Fe each
starting at 6:30pm while Clear Brook at Clear Creek will begin at 6:45pm.
Justin Verlander takes the mound for the Astros in the second game of their opening
homestand against the Orioles beginning at 7:10pm. Baltimore did not announce a
starter as of Friday. Whoever the O’s choose will be be seen live on AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest with the pregame show starting at 6:30pm.
