COWBOYS AND Texans fans will flock to NRG Stadium to decide who has the
state’s best NFL team, but it’s the Astros who will have most of the attention as
the American League Divisional Series moves to Cleveland for Games Three
and (if necessary) Four. Certaintly not forgotten is the high school volleyball
schedule that has reached the point of the season where each match will have
playoff impact.
SUNDAY: More than state bragging rights are on the line when the Cowboys
visit the Texans beginning at 7:20pm. Houston comes off their first win of the
season after an overtime victory over the Colts while the Cowboys rallied to defeat
the Lions to even their record at 2-2. Neither team — especially the Texans
— can ill afford a defeat that will put them into a deeper role in the respective
divisional races. Dallas has won the last three meetings of the series and holds
a 3-1 lead over Houston. KPRC-2 will have the live coverage of the game.
MONDAY: Dallas Keuchel (12-11, 3.74 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros in
Game Three of the American League Divisional Series moves to Cleveland.
The Indians will hand the ball to Mike Clevinger (13-8, 3.02 ERA) when the
game begins at 12:30pm. TBS will start its coverage with its pregame show at
noon.
Fresh off its U.S. Open Cup championship, the Dynamo return to MLS regular
season action when they visit the Seattle Sounders beginning at 9:30pm.
KUBE-57 will have the live broadcast.
TUESDAY: The high school volleyball schedule begins at 5:30pm when Hitchcock
plays at East Bernard. Clear Creek at Alvin, Clear Springs at Clear Brook,
Clear Falls at Dickinson and Columbia at La Marque each start their matches at
6:00pm while Galveston Ball at Crosby, Galena Park at Friendswood, Baytown
Lee at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City are each 6:30pm
starts.
Texas City’s boys golf team starts its fall season when they participate in a
tournament held at Moody Gardens. Galveston Ball will serve as the host team
in the event. The Stingarees will also have its tennis team in action when both
the boys and girls squads take on Baytown Lee.
Game Four — if necessary — of the American League Divisional Series between
the Astros and Indians will start at 3:35pm, but neither team has shown
its hand on who would start. Regardless who gets the nod from each squad,
TBS will have the live broadcast.
The Rockets welcome the Shanghai Sharks for an exhibition game beginning
at 7:00pm. The Sharks are the team that developed former Rockets All-Star
Yao Ming, who currently owns the franchise. Tipoff will come right after AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest begins its pregame coverage at 6:30pm.
