Hope Celebration Saturday, November 10th 10a.m.-3p.m.
Visitors to the Hope Festival at St. George’s Episcopal Church at 6th Street and 13th Avenue
may enjoy a day of Rest & Play while connecting with Resource Assistance. As St. George’s
Walks in the Way of Love this year’s theme, they are scattering Seeds of Hope and providing a
place for connection and play to Galveston County.
Much of Galveston County has been traumatized first by Hurricane Harvey and then by the
shootings in Santa Fe. The nature of trauma causes many to isolate and then lose hope. The
Hope Festival is an opportunity for people to Choose Hope Anew, to connect with others in the
community and to valuable resources.
It is also an opportunity to reboot with a Day of Play. That is what happened for one 10 year old
girl last year from Dickinson who was severely depressed after losing everything in Hurricane
Harvey. After pony and train rides, getting her face painted and drumming on Jamba drums,
eating free hot dogs and ice cream, she was back to herself again. She found hope in realizing
Harvey didn’t win and she could laugh and play again. She discovered she can have joy even in
the midst of recovery.
We invite you to come and pick some Fresh Hope! Enjoy Holiday shopping and great foods,
Food Trucks, Free Chair Massages, arts and crafts all set to a backdrop of Love songs to soothe
your soul.
