(All) Stars filled with Astros in Midsummer Classic

The Astros will close out the first half along with making a strong presence at the All-Star Game on Tuesday night. The start of the week will also see subtle signs of the beginning of fall practice for both high school volleyball and football players.
Sunday: Rookie Jose Urquidy (0-0, 4.91 ERA) makes his first home start in an Astros uniform as they close out the first half of the regular season against the Angels at 1:10pm. Urquidy made his major league debut at the Rockies on Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on six hits over 3.2 innings. Los Angeles will start rookie Jose Suarez (2-1, 5.40 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its pregame coverage at 12:30pm.
Monday: Astros All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman will take part in the annual Home Run Derby at Progressive Field in Cleveland, which will air live on ESPN beginning at 7:00pm. Bregman will be paired with Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson in the opening round of play.
Tuesday: There will be a strong Astros contingent for the All-Star Game, as the team will have six players representing the American League team. Pitchers Gerrit Cole, Ryan Pressly and Justin Verlander will be joined by Bregman and outfielders Michael Brantley and George Springer. Fox26 will have the game beginning at 6:30pm.
The signs of the 2019-20 high school sports season will continue as the Texas Girls Coaches Association holds its annual state conference in Arlington. Those signs can also be seen at various high school stadiums and practice fields as both male and female athletes continue their strength and conditioning. The volleyball season is less than a month away while football teams who did not participate in spring practice will open their first workouts on August 5.
