So, the simple truth is there are a lot of people on this planet. And most of us have a whole lot of “stuff”. George Carlin did a bit about people and their “stuff” and how we have to have houses so that we have a place to put our “stuff” and eventually we will start looking for a bigger house because we don’t have room for all our “stuff”. When we get to that point, often we start throwing away our “stuff” or have a garage sale for our “stuff”. We donate our “stuff” to Goodwill or Salvation Army where they sell our “stuff” to other people and we find more “stuff” to buy while we are there donating our “stuff”. And while this may not be good for businesses that are busy trying to sell us new “stuff”, it is good for our pocketbooks, and in theory, the planet. One of the best ways to off load our “stuff” to make room for more “stuff” is to donate to local charity organizations. Next door to The Post is Blessings and Bargains, the retail part of The Pregnancy Crisis Support Center. For months now, the furniture and décor portion has been closed while they recovered from yet another attack from vandals attempting to break in, an unfortunate occurrence that has happened to this particular 6th Street business multiple times in the last couple of years. Beginning August 12, the store will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5:00 p.m. and to celebrate, they will be offering 20% off everything in the store that is not held for the young mothers who can bring their Baby Bucks in and purchase items needed for their families for the entire month of August. If you have baby items that your own kids have grown out of, this is a great way to ensure they find a new home where they will be greatly appreciated. And when you purchase items from B&B, you are helping to support an organization that works to support young mothers by providing counseling, parenting classes and a sense of belonging to a group of other young mothers struggling just like they are. That is a lot of good that can come from all your “stuff”. 505 & 507 6th Street, North Texas City, Texas Call (409) 771-9511 https://www.facebook.com/Blessings-n-Bargains-182096825317002/
