THANKSGIVING WEEK MEANS A dose of afternoon high school boys’ and girls’ basketball, so if you’re fortunate to have time off, make it a purpose to celebrate the best the county has to offer.

Sunday: The Rockets get a rare Sunday afternoon home game when they face the Mavericks at 2:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts their coverage at 2:00pm.

The Cowboys visit the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots in a must-win game at 3:25pm. Dallas needs the win to stay at least a game ahead of the Eagles in the NFC East race as the regular season hits the home stretch. Fox 26 will have coverage following the Seahawks-Eagles game that opens doubleheader coverage at noon.

Monday: The girls’ basketball schedule starts with George Ranch at Clear Falls at 11:30am, followed by North Shore at Clear Springs and Lamar at La Marque, which each start at 1:00pm. Hitchcock plays Incarnate Word at 3:00pm in their first game in the Bay Area Christian Tournament, followed by Lumberton at Texas City at 4:00pm.

The boys’ basketball slate starts with Hitchcock at Brookshire Royal at 12:00pm, with Clear Brook at Brazoswood and Sam Rayburn at Santa Fe each beginning at 1:00pm, with Clear Falls at Friendswood wrap up the day at 2:00pm.

Tuesday: La Marque at Sam Rayburn tips off the girls’ basketball schedule at 12:00pm, followed by Dickinson at Brazoswood, Fort Bend Austin at Clear Brook, Manvel at Clear Falls, Westside at Clear Springs and Clear Creek at Dobie each start at 1:00pm while Beaumont United at Texas City begins at 4:00pm.

In boys’ basketball, Fort Bend Bush at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Friendswood each begin at 1:00pm, followed by a clash between state-ranked Texas City at state-ranked Dickinson and Fort Bend Elkins at La Marque at 2:00pm. Clear Falls at La Porte wraps up the day’s slate at 3:00pm.
