A BUSY SPORTS SCHEDULE doesn’t even include the potential of boys’ and girls’ high school basketball teams taking part in playoff action Thursday thru Saturday.

Wednesday: Friendswood’s lacrosse team will be in action when the Mustangs host St. John’s beginning at 7:30pm.

La Marque’s boys’ powerlifting team will be on the road for a meet at New Caney Porter, a meet that will also see Santa Fe’s team among those in action.

The Rockets will get the national spotlight when they the Grizzlies at Toyota Center beginning at 7:00pm. ESPN will have the game live, along with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest, which will start its coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.

The Astros will be on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest earlier in the day when they take on the Cardinals at 12:00pm. The pregame show starts at 11:30am.

Thursday: The focus of high school softball will be at the CCISD Varsity Tournament where Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Springs will also be joined by Dickinson, Galveston Ball and Texas City among the teams competing In the three-day event. Friendswood will be at the Haynie Spirit Tournament while Santa Fe competes in the Crosby Tournament.

The high school baseball tournament schedule will be highlighted by Texas City hosting the Oldest Tournament in Texas that will also include Dickinson. Galveston Ball hosts the Sandbar Tournament that will include Clear Creek while Santa Fe plays hosts to its own varsity tournament. Hitchcock will host the Bulldog Tournament that will also feature La Marque while Clear Falls and Friendswood will be at the Pearland Tournament.

Dickinson’s boys’ powerlifting team will be at Hitchcock as the two regional powerhouses will be among the featured schools in action as the road to the state finals loom. 

The Astros take on the Nationals for the third in their first week of Spring Training as last year’s World Series teams get underway at 5:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin with the pregame show at 4:30pm.

Friday: Track and field begins to warm up as Texas City hosts the 409 Relays. Dickinson, Galveston Ball and La Marque will also be among the teams competing. Santa Fe hosts the Reggie Crosby Relays that will see Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Friendswood among the guests of the Indians. Clear Falls is at the Walter Heintschel Invitational at Crump Stadium in Houston while Clear Springs at the Fort Bend Marshall Invitational.

Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs are among the tennis teams getting up and early for the La Porte Tournament beginning at 6:30am. Clear Creek heads to Spring Branch for the I-10 Corridor Tournament that will run through Saturday.

The boys’ high school soccer will have Clear Falls at Alvin, Santa Fe at Baytown Lee, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Dickinson at Clear Springs, Galena Park at Friendswood, Crosby at Galveston Ball and Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial starting at 7:30pm.

Meanwhile, the girls’ high school soccer slate has Alvin at Clear Falls, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Galveston Ball at Crosby, Clear Springs at Dickinson, Friendswood at Galena Park, Baytown Lee at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City each starting at 7:30pm.

Saturday: Friendswood’s lacrosse team will continue its homestand when they take on Bridgeland at 3:00pm.

The Rockets get the national spotlight again, this time on the road at the Celtics at 7:30pm. The game can be seen live on KTRK 13.
