Rockets continue Bubble Ball while Astros return home

WHAT IS USUALLY THE FIRST week of high school volleyball season is silenced until Friday when La Marque and Hitchcock becomes the area’s first two schools to play since the start of the national pandemic. In the meantime, the Astros and Rockets continue to fill the schedule, with the Rockets moving closer to where they will be seeded in the postseason.

Sunday: The Astros’ first road trip of the season concludes with rookie Cristian Javier (0-0, 1.42 ERA) getting the start for Houston against Oakland rookie hurler Jesus Luzardo (0-0, 2.31 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest has the coverage starting with the pregame show at 2:30pm, leading into the first pitch at 3:10pm. 

Shortly after the Astros conclude, the Rockets begin the final week of the regular season portion of Life in the NBA Bubble when they take on the Kings starting at 7:00pm. Houston and Sacramento have split the two previous regular season games, with the Rockets getting a 113-104 victory on December 23. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have the game live, with the pregame beginning at 6:30pm.

Monday: Home sweet home awaits the Astros as they open a 10-game stand at Minute Maid Park against the Giants beginning at 8:00pm. Lance McCullers Jr. (1-1, 9.22 ERA) gets the nod for Houston while the Giants will make a decision on who will start for them in the nationally-televised game on ESPN. The game will also be televised on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest beginning with the pregame at 7:30pm.

Tuesday: Neither the Astros nor the Giants have made a decision on who to start for the middle game of the series, which starts at 8:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin its coverage with the pregame show at 7:30pm.

The sports day starts early as the Rockets meet the rival Spurs at 1:00pm. The teams have not faced off since Houston pulled off a 109-107 win on December 16. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts its coverage at 12:30pm. The game can also be seen on NBATV.
