THE TEXANS ARE ON A bye week and the Cowboys don’t play until Sunday night. In a sense, it sets the stage for how the start of the first week of November plays out as only a handful of events are on the schedule. Obviously, there is something playing out across the country that kind of overshadows the sporting events on Tuesday.

Sunday: For the 119th time since 1960, the Cowboys clash with the rival Eagles, with this clash at AT&T Stadium in front of a Sunday Night Football audience on KPRC-2 beginning at 7:20pm. Dallas may have to turn to rookie Ben DiNucci at quarterback in place of injured Andy Dalton. The Cowboys will look to extend a trend that has seen them win four of the past five meetings, including two straight at home.

Monday: The day’s lone high school varsity sporting event will have the Texas City boys’ golf team with dual meets. One team of Stingarees will participate at Bay Oaks Golf Club with Clear Creek as the host, while the second team will at Moody Gardens for a meet that will be hosted by Galveston Ball.

Tuesday: Girls’ high school basketball scrimmages continue as La Marque hosts Texas City and Columbia for a tri-scrimmage beginning at 4:00pm. Santa Fe travels to South Houston at 4:30pm while state-ranked Hitchcock will have a team scrimmage starting at 5:00pm.

As the high school volleyball season winds down, the number of matches start to thin. Three matches are on the slate with Clear Creek at Seven Lakes starting at 5:30pm, followed by Friendswood at Baytown Lee and Galveston Ball at Santa Fe each starting at 6:30pm.

Fall tennis regional postseason will be held at sites to be determined.

Texas City’s girls’ golf team will be Bayou Golf Club as the Stings play the role of host beginning at 8:30pm. Galveston Ball will be among the teams participating.
