A CHILLY FIRST weekend of December is highlighted by the expected return of the La Marque boys’ basketball team, which has been sidelined during to a coronavirus outbreak that also impacted the girls’ basketball team as well. Meanwhile, the final week of the regular season in high school football will be featured by Texas City visiting Barbers Hill with a chance to earn a playoff spot.

Wednesday: No games on the schedule.

Thursday: Clear Creek and Dickinson close out their football regular seasons when the Wildcats visit the Gators for a 6:00pm kickoff.

Santa Fe’s boys’ basketball team meets Aldine MacArthur in a contest that will be played at the Campbell Center in Houston. Tipoff begins at 7:00pm.

Clear Brook and Clear Lake face off in a swimming and diving meet at Clear Lake starting at 6:00pm.

Friday: The final week of the regular season in 5A and 6A high school football will see Clear Falls at Cinco Ranch beginning at 6:30pm, followed by Friendswood at Port Arthur Memorial and La Porte at Galveston Ball kicking off at 7:00pm. Clear Brook at Morton Ranch, Santa Fe at Port Neches-Groves and Texas City at Barbers Hill each begin at 7:30pm.

The high school girls’ basketball slate starts with Texas City at Friendswood at 5:45pm, followed by Beaumont United at Clear Springs at 6:00pm. Clear Creek at Dobie, Galveston Ball at La Porte and Santa Fe at Baytown Lee each begin at 7:00pm. 

In boys’ high school basketball, Galveston Ball at Pearland starts the slate at 6:00pm. Humble at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Texas City, Dickinson at Summer Creek and La Porte at La Marque tip off at 7:30pm, followed by Clear Falls at Fort Bend Marshall and Hitchcock at Lutheran South at 7:30pm.

The boys’ golf teams of Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Springs will be among the schools represented at the two-day meet at The Golf Club of Houston. Kingwood High School will serve as the host.

Saturday: A busy boys’ high school basketball schedule will have Stratford at Clear Falls and Alvin at Clear Falls at 1:00pm. Clear Brook at Hitchcock and Sweeny at Santa Fe are each 1:30pm starts, with Clear Creek at Texas City tipping off at 3:00pm.

The sole girls’ high school basketball game will have St. Agnes Academy at Clear Brook at 4:30pm.

In college football, #5 Texas A&M at #22 Auburn (ESPN) and Rice at #21 Marshall (ESPN+) each start at 11:00am. Houston at SMU (ESPNU) kicks off at 8:00pm.
