Be it running, kicking or swinging, the schedule’s busy

The sports schedule continues to fill up the early March dance card with a host of baseball and softball tournaments. There’s also a healthy dose of tennis and track and field, while the final stretch of the soccer regular season becomes a sprint to the finish for playoff spots.

Wednesday: The boys’ soccer schedule will have Katy Tompkins at Dickinson at 7:00pm, while the girls’ soccer slate has La Marque at Splendora at 5:00pm.

Thursday: High school baseball tourney will be highlighted by the CCISD Tournament, where each of the district’s five high schools will be joined by the likes of state-ranked Friendswood. Galveston Ball is at the Barbers Hill Tournament, while Santa Fe is at the Brenham Tourney. Texas City will be participating at the Brazoswood Tournament. Meanwhile La Marque welcomes Angleton Christian to Cougar Field for a 5:00pm start.

In high school softball, Clear Springs takes part in the Sienna Tournament, with Hitchcock among the teams at the Bay City/Van Vleck Tournament. State-ranked Santa Fe will compete in the Barbers Hills Tournament.

There is one boys’ soccer match as La Marque visits Splendora at 7:00pm. The girls’ soccer matches on the schedule has Galveston Ball at Goose Creek Memorial at 6:00pm and Baytown Lee at Texas City at 7:30pm.

Texas City plays host in the Sting Relays which will include the girls’ teams of Clear Brook and La Marque and the boys’ and girls’ teams of Clear Creek, Clear Springs and Santa Fe during the two-day event.

Friday: A busy high school boys’ soccer schedule will see Clear Brook at Dickinson, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Brazoswood, Friendswood at Baytown Lee and Galveston Ball at Santa Fe. Each match begins at 7:30pm.

In girls’ high school soccer, Dickinson at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Brazoswood at Clear Springs, Baytown Lee at Friendswood, Santa Fe at Galveston Ball, with each also starting at 7:30pm.

The softball schedule has Clear Creek at Humble at 6:00pm, followed by Elkins at Clear Brook, Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial and Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball at 6:30pm.

The high school tennis schedule begins with Clear Brook at Deer Park at 6:30am, followed by a quad-meet in Friendswood that will also include Clear Creek and Clear Springs at 8:00am. Dickinson visits Texas City at 3:00pm.

The track and field schedule has Clear Brook’s boys at the Houston Lamar Relays, with Clear Falls at the LCISD Relays. Friendswood and Hitchcock will be among those at the Gulf Coast Relays in Brazosport.

Saturday: The one match on the schedule is a boys’ soccer clash between Galveston Ball and host Friendswood at 3:00pm.
