Have you tried to get in your 10,000 steps as recommended? Do you get that daily walk or run in? I will be first to say I do not! If you see me running, take notice because it means a bad person is chasing me (and please come to my assistance). I have learned to be content with small steps. That’s all life is. Small steps that you take every day. When you look back down the road, it all adds up and you know you have covered some distance. It took me a long time to accept that, but it’s true. You need to have patience and be pleased with any steps you take, be they physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. The Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu said it best: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” He didn’t leave instructions on how far or how fast our steps were supposed to be. Our paces will each vary. Just take that one step to begin and be sure to encourage those you pass along the way.

I’ll end with another quote:

“We’re all just walking each other home.”

— Ram Das
