
Play Ball! High school baseball starts throughout the area with nine games on Monday. The start of the week also has high school softball and soccer along with boys’ golf swinging towards the heart of its regular season.
Sunday: Ranked 14th in the nation, the University of Houston men’s basketball team visits Wichita State for a 12:00pm tip that will be aired nationally on ESPN.
Monday: Opening Day of the 2022 high school baseball season begins at 2:00pm when Galveston Ball visits Dobie, followed by Clear Falls at Santa Fe at 4:30pm. Alvin at Clear Springs starts at 5:00pm, with Clear Creek at Barbers Hill, Dickinson at Texas City, and La Marque at Hardin each starting at 6:00pm. Pasadena Memorial at Clear Brook begins at 6:30pm, with Angleton at Friendswood wraps up the day at 7:00pm.
Bay Forest is where the boys’ golf teams of District 24-6A will square off in a meet that is hosted by Clear Lake.
Tuesday: A light boys’ soccer schedule will have La Marque at Anahauc at 7:00pm, with Goose Creek Memorial at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, Texas City at Manvel, and Santa Fe at Baytown Sterling each starting at 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, the girls’ soccer slate kicks La Marque at Anahuac at 5:00pm, followed by Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball, Baytown Sterling at Santa Fe, and Manvel at Texas City each getting underway at 7:30pm.
The softball schedule begins at 4:30pm when La Marque visits Pasadena High, with Clear Brook at Pasadena Memorial at 5:30pm. Clear Springs at Barbers Hill, Dickinson at Deer Park, Galveston Ball at Goose Creek Memorial, Santa Fe at Friendswood and Texas City at La Porte each begin at 6:30pm.
There is also golf on the schedule, with the District 24-5A boys competing at Bayou Golf Club in a meet hosted by Texas City, while Hitchcock travels to take part in the Danbury Panther Invitational.
