I once heard a man share that when he and his wife first got started in the
ministry, they personally struggled financially for several years.
They finally started seeing some headway as the little church grew, and both the church and the Pastor started experiencing some financial relief.
One morning, the Pastor was thanking the Lord for the church’s growth, and when he began thanking Him for his personal savings, the Lord spoke this to his heart. “Robert, would you give that money to someone else? For Me?”
Now, as I listened to this, I remembered thinking, “Wow. That would be tough!”
He probably had to pray hard, get several confirmations and anguish over it before he was able to give in to God’s request.
This was the man’s reply: “Really? For You, Lord? I get to?”
At that moment, I stopped what I was doing, so stunned and touched by his
response that I began to cry.
How awesome to have that tender relationship with our Heavenly Father. You know, this can only happen when we truly receive the full message of the Gospel about God’s unconditional love and grace. It will automatically take a person from a place of servitude to gratitude.
From “Okay God, what do I have to do for You?” to a heart response of, “Father, what CAN I do for You?”
When you realize that the Lord is your Provider, and He is not a negligent Father, your heart will be so yielding and tender towards Him. It changes your whole attitude.
“Give up this parking space for You, Lord? Really? I get to?”
“Move aside in line, when I haven’t the time? For You, Lord? Really? I get
to?”
“Allow my husband to think he’s right when I know that he’s wrong? For You, Lord? Really? I get to?”
“Go to work and earn a check to give to others in need? For You, Lord?
Really? I get to?”
“Let people think I’m a fool because I’m so in love with You? Really? I get
to?”
“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
Jesus has this relationship with His Father.
“Go to earth and live as a man, teach them about love and
Your perfect plan. Die on a cross and rise again … for You?
Really? I get to?”
“And this is eternal life, that they may KNOW You, the only true God, and
Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3 NKJV
“Jesus, lay down my life each day in gratitude? Really? For You?
“YES!!! I get to?”
P.S.: That Pastor and His wife gave their savings to the person God led them to. Shortly after that, someone else gave them a check … for double the amount they had given away.
You can’t out give God.
