When Sickness Hits Resist It Quick

Before I opened my eyes I felt a raw scratchy pain in my throat. As I began to move around and get ready for work I started experiencing flu-like symptoms.   I softly rebuked the illness and kept going, feeling worse with every mile as I headed to a breakfast meeting.

I really felt lousy!!! My whole body ached. And I began considering calling in sick- going home and crawling back into bed.

Instead, I chose to pray in tongues and ask the Lord what to do. (I am not going to debate this here but speaking in tongues is for every born again believer who is willing to receive, it is a powerful gift from our Heavenly Father!!! To draw upon the wisdom of God, by passing our brains which can only access limited knowledge – things in the natural world – going by our 5 senses. But we can draw upon our sixth sense- a sensitivity to the wisdom/knowledge/power of God.)

As I prayed out loud in the car the Lord gave me a vision …
and what I saw was the passage in John 2:13-17, when Jesus made a whip of cords, and with a righteous anger, he drove out the money changers, and merchants who were taking advantage of the people- Jesus said they had turned His Father’s house/ temple into a “den of thieves.” Matt: 21: 12-13

Well, this is what the Lord reminded me, as born again children of God, His Holy spirit now resides in us, so our bodies have become the temple of God- a dwelling place for Him.

Sickness is a foreign invader- coming in to steal, kill and destroy the “temple of God.” Jesus in John 10:10 – also confirms that it is demonic/ satan who is behind this … “The thief does not come but to steal, kill and destroy, I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.”

So, the Lord instructed me to have not one ounce of compassion or pity on myself- or to coddle my body but to protect His temple!!! Just like Jesus showed no mercy or compassion on those people in that instance. He drove them out!!! Their intentions were evil!

Therefore, I used my tongue as a cord of whips and began to drive that sickness (thief), who was trying to rob me of good health, out of my body in His strength. “I sent MY word and healed them.” (Psalm 107:20)

Right away I started reminding myself outloud that “I am in this world but am not of this world- I am a child of God, spiritually reborn into His Kingdom with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living on the inside of me.” John 17:14-16, John 3:3, Eph. 1:19-20.  Because, “… so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

Then my combat training kicked in ….”no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and I shall condemn every evil spoken word against me.” Isaiah 54:17

“Every symptom of sickness, or weakness will leave my body now! Jesus is Lord in my body and Satan YOU can’t come in!”

As I drove on I started praising Jesus for the new inheritance He left us with … the ability to walk in good health!!

I arrived at the meeting and as I walked in the door suddenly all the symptoms had gone, stuffy nose, headache, fever, sore throat, achy body, weakness. Gone!

Now in this meeting a couple of people wanted to talk to me about God, so I got to share the love of Jesus with them;))) The Devil tried to stop that from happening.

But later that day, just before 5 pm, I was to lead a Bible study at work, and as I gathered my Bible and headed across the room- suddenly- every flu symptom reappeared, “I just laughed and said, “No! You are a liar and you can’t come in!”

The symptoms disappeared just as quickly! And Bible study was awesome. And to God goes all the Glory!

‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgement YOU shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,
Says the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17

Rejoice in His love for us but never take off your armor brothers and sisters!

I may not have arrived …. in receiving God’s best … but I’ve left!
