Artists Invited to Submit Work Saturday for Texas City Art Festival, Chance to Wim $500.

TEXAS CITY, TX – Artists are invited to drop off pieces of their work this Saturday for a chance to be
featured in the Texas City Art Festival and possibly win up to $500.
Submissions for the Texas City Art Festival will be accepted on Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. at the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center, located at 2010 5th Ave. N. Art will be accepted in
four categories:

  • Under Glass Hanging
  • Not Under Glass Hanging
  • Photography
  • Three Dimensional
    Prizes will be awarded in each category, with Honorable Mentions receiving $25, third place
    receiving $200, second place receiving $300 and first place winners receiving $400. In addition, the
    piece chosen as Best of Show will be awarded $500. The awards will be presented at an Opening
    Night Ceremony on Saturday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m.
    A popular annual tradition for more than 25 years, the Texas City Art Festival is a five-day event that
    features more than 1,000 works of art, offers four free art workshops, awards thousands of dollars
    of prize money, and provides scholarships for local students. Artists are also offered the option of
    listing their pieces for sale during the event, which draws thousands of guests each year.
    In addition to opening night, the Texas City Art Festival will also be open for public viewing on:
  • Sunday, March 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There is a large display of student art at the festival, which includes hundreds of pieces by local
students of all ages that encompass a wide variety of mediums.
Presented by the Texas City Cultural Arts Foundation and the Parks, Recreation and Tourism
Department, the Texas City Art Festival was created as a celebration of the arts and the artists in
the community and serves to inspire.
