VERSATILE Dickinson senior Montel
Parker was selected as the District 24-6A
most valuable player award after the
future Texas A&M receiver helped the
Gators reach the area round of the postseason.
Parker threw for 518 yards and
seven touchdowns while rushing for 360
yards and five touchdowns on 48 carries
along with catching 25 passes for
343 yards and two scores while helping
Dickinson to an 8-3 record
Clear Springs running back Todd Hudson
was named the district’s offensive player
of the year after the junior rushed for
1,472 yards and 16 touchdowns, while
Chargers teammate Garrett Rooker
earned 24-6A newcomer of the year following
a breakout season that saw the
sophomore throw for 1,772 yards and 22
touchdowns and adding two more scores
on the ground. Coach Todd Dailey was
named the coach of the year after he led
Clear Springs to its second straight 24-6A
championship.
Friendswood linebacker Jake Yurachek
was selected as the defensive player
of the year after he recorded 193 total
tackles that included 16.5 tackles for
loss and four sacks. Yurachek also had
one interception, two forced fumbles,
a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.
Clear Brook’s Mark Milton shared the district’s
Iron Man award with Friendswood’s
Calvin Whitaker.
