FRIDAY MORNING brought tragedy and anguish to Santa Fe. The games,
however, do continue as both the Rockets and Astros resume play while
providing their own version of the healing process.
The Indians baseball team, which was scheduled to play game two of their
5A, Region III quarterfinal series against Kingwood Park on Friday night,
obviously did not hit the field. As of Friday afternoon, a date had not been
announced when coach Ronnie Wulf’s team will play.
TODAY, SUNDAY: After three days of rest, the Rockets and Warriors resume
their Western Conference finals clash with game three in Oakland
scheduled for 7:00pm. The series is tied 1-1 after Houston dispatched
Golden State with a 127-105 rout on Wednesday night. TNT will have the
national coverage while 790-AM will offer the radio side of things for the
Rockets.
Houston will also have the national baseball spotlight when Lance Mc-
Cullers Jr. (5-2, 3.63 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros when they
host the Indians in the finale of a three-game set. Cleveland will throw
Carlos Carrasco (5-2, 3.66 ERA) when two of the elite teams in the majors
square off on ESPN beginning at 7:00pm.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: With most area schools conducting senior exams,
the sports day in both high schools and professionally will be an
open one. Considering the tragedy that ocurred in Santa Fe on Friday
morning, perhaps the day will be used for reflection across the county.
TUESDAY: Both the Rockets and Astros resume action for a busy night
for Houston sports fans.
Game four of the Western Conference finals tips off in Oakland starting at
8:00pm. TNT will have the national telecast while those who can’t watch
will be able to follow along on 790-AM.
The Astros welcome the Giants to Minute Maid Park beginning at 7:10pm
as Gerrit Cole (4-1, 1.75 ERA) opposes San Francisco rookie Andrew Suarez
(1-3, 4.88 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage with
the pregame show at 6:30pm.
