BY THE TIME you read this, we will know if the Rockets have a chance at a third

NBA title or if Cavaliers-Warriors IV: The Revenge will dominate the airwaves

on Thursday night. A Rockets loss would be disappointing across the city but

perhaps one of the biggest heartaches will come from the missed opportunities

that Uber and Lyft drivers will experience from not having downtown Houston as

the heartbeat of the national sports scene this weekend.

The end of the week and the start of a new month will also be highlighted by high

school graduations across the area. A big salute goes to each grad who now

begins a new chapter in their lives with a host of them embarking on the next

stage of their athletic careers when they begin college this fall.

TODAY, WEDNESDAY: The Astros conclude their three-game set at the Yankees

when Dallas Keuchel (3-6, 3.39 ERA) takes the mound for Houston against

New York’s Luis Severino (7-1, 2.28 ERA). ESPN will have the national broadcast

for the game at 5:30pm while AT&T Southwest will begin its coverage with

the pregame show starting at 5:00pm.

TOMORROW, THURSDAY: It could be a big night for Houston sports (along

with making Downtown pretty darn crowded). Depending on the outcome of

Monday’s decisive game seven of the Western Conference Finals, the Rockets

could be hosting game one of the NBA Finals against the Eastern Conference

champion Cleveland Cavaliers. If the Rockets prevailed on Monday, their

clash against LeBron James and Friends would tip off at Toyota Center just after

8:00pm. ABC-13 would have the national broadcast while 790-AM will handle

the radio side of things.

Regardless of what happens to the Rockets, the Astros return home to Minute

Maid Park for the first of a four-game set against the Red Sox, who entered the

week with the best record in baseball. Lance McCullers Jr. (6-3, 3.98 ERA) gets

the assignment for Houston while Boston counters with Drew Pomeranz (1-2,

6.75 ERA). Game time is set for 7:10pm with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starting

its coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.

FRIDAY: Two of the best arms in baseball collide when Astros hurler Gerrit Cole

(5-1, 2.05 ERA) opposes Red Sox ace Chris Sale (5-2, 2.76 ERA) in the second

game of the weekend series between the two American League division leaders

beginning at 7:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest gets its show on the road

starting with the pregame show at 6:30pm.

SATURDAY: For the second time this week, the Astros get the national spotlight

as Fox-26 will air the third game of the series against the Red Sox as part of its

Saturday Night Baseball coverage. Houston will have Justin Verlander (6-2, 1.08

ERA) on the mound while Boston is slated to pitch David Price (4-4, 4.08 ERA).

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:15pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have the

night off.
