Friendswood is all a buzz and getting ready for February

16, 2019. There are a few gala tables available

if you do not have yours already. Visit the new website:

the details. On this site, you can purchase your table,

grants, along with silent and live auction items all in

one place. Creating a one-stop shopping experience

for all our donors.

The Face of Friendswood, spotlights our Adopt a

Grant program. This program is in full swing as of

last week went grants “went live” on Cyber Monday,

November 26. Parents and community members purchased

all week getting ready for the holiday season.

Many thanks to our Westwood Elementary parents

that all pitch in to purchase their teachers’ grants as

an early Christmas gift.

FEF President, Kelly Lovell states, “the adopt-agrant

program has truly helped further innovative and

engaged learning in the classrooms. Students now

have access to tools, resources, and curriculum that

they would not normally have, all because of the generous

people in this community. The adopt-a-grant

program has given teachers an even greater ability to

maximize potential in all FISD students.”

This hardworking grant committee is composed of

chair, Kim Montz, Molly Crow, Suzanne Banfield, Meg

Crowley, Adam Ring, Kelly Lovell, Shanna Kirpatrick,

Brad Freyer, Tracy Hopkins, Emily Bryant, Jamie Hill,

Justin Hanks, Alan Stanfield, Russ Hillenburg, Niki

Rhodes, Lauren Ambeau, Leslie Yarbrough, Cindy

Lewis, Shannon Estopinal, Kam Hasmukh, Tanner

Baker.

FISD Superintendent, Thad Roher, expressed

the importance and appreciation of the foundation’s

work. “The funding of teacher-initiated grants by our

community allows Friendswood ISD the opportunity

to fund instructional experiences that create engagement

and authentic learning opportunities,” said Roher.

“I am proud to be part of a community that values

learning and to have a Foundation focused on our

students. Our committees put much work into the

Gala and the grants and I am excited to see what will

come “Out of the Blue” – New York style.
