The Clear Creek High School girls’ golf team captured the District 24-6A championship on
Tuesday. Peyton Galyean won the district’s individual title while teammate Ana Vallejo finished
third. The two, along with Trinity Le, were named to the all-district first team, and teammate
Caroline Singletary was named to the second team.
Dickinson High School powerlifter Matthew Longoria won his second straight state
championship in the 123 class at last week’s meet in Abilene. Longoria also set a new state
record in his class with a 335 lb press. He was also joined in Abilene by teammates Jeremiah
Coleman (132 class), Derrick Cobbs (165 class), Jose Rodriguez (220 class) and Marcus White
(super heavyweight class).
The Friendswood High School girls’ golf team won the District 22-5A championship and will
advance to regionals, which will be held on April 22-23 at The Golf Club at La Torretta in
Montgomery. The team consists of Heidi Demel, Hannah Johnston, Railey Adkins, Olivia Farber,
Genna Dancey and Joy Li.
