Friendswood places seven on 10-5A first team

SEVEN MEMBERS OF FRIENDSWOOD’S football team were selected to the 10-5A-1 first team, which was announced earlier this week following Shadow Creek’s victory in the 5A, Division I state championship.

Offensive lineman Daniel Goolsby, receiver Christian Lee and tight end Matthew Kovacevich were each selected to the first team offense, while punter Luke Grden (also named second team quarterback), linebacker Dane Roenne and defensive backs Connor Haines and Luke Sanchez made the first team defense.

Texas City lineman Ja’Kerrin Price and running back Semai McCall were named to the first team offense. Lineman Jontel Stevenson was selected to the first team defense.

Representing Galveston Ball on the first team were receiver Nehemiah Noel (offense) and defensive back Moses Alexander (defense).

Friendswood placed lineman Ryan Mitchell, running back Noah Palitz and receiver Dawson Johnson on the second team offense. Linemen Jonathan Farrell and Matthew Reyes and linebacker Ryan Helton were selected to the second team defense.

Punter David Morales of Texas City was named as a specialist on the second team and was joined by linebacker Joseph McCarty-Davis and defensive back Corday Williams as Stinagrees representatives. 

For Galveston Ball, lineman Erick Rodriguez (offense) and lineman Devon Bouldin (defense) each made the second team.

Shadow Creek quarterback Kyron Drones was named the 10-5A Most Valuable Player. Richmond Foster’s Cody Jackson was named the offensive player of the year, with Fort Bend Hightower’s Christian Hood earning defensive player of the year honors. Shadow Creek’s Kelvon Brown was chosen as the district’s newcomer of the year, while Hightower’s Kobie Campbell was tapped as the return specialist of the year. Brad Butler was selected as coach of the year.
