AFTER NEARLY SIX decades of having a home of its own, the La Marque Cougars will play its 2020 home football games at Stingaree Stadium in Texas City as the district works on determining the future of Etheridge Stadium, which was deemed unfit to play in.
The Coogs will be on the road for four of their first five regular season games, beginning with the opener at Galveston Ball. The upside for coach Shone Evans’ squad is that La Marque will play four of their final five games at home.
Entering his third season as the Coogs’ coach, Evans will look to continue rebuilding a program that has not advanced past the second round since 2014. La Marque has not moved beyond the bi-district round in each of the past two seasons.
