BASKETBALL GETS ITS TIME to start dominating the schedule, but there are still a handful of volleyball matches that serve as tune-ups for the upcoming state playoffs.
Sunday: With the Cowboys on bye, the Texans will have the spotlight to themselves when they visit the Browns at 12:00pm. KHOU-11 will have the game live. Fox-26 will have the Eagles at Giants beginning at noon, followed by the Saints hosting the 49ers at 3:25pm.
Monday: With the 5A and 6A state volleyball playoffs approaching, contenders will use this week for tune-ups. That includes Texas City, which will visit Barbers Hill for a 5:00pm matchup.
Tuesday: The boys’ high school basketball schedule will start with Santa Fe at El Campo at 6:30pm, followed by Clear Brook at Friendswood, Clear Creek at Galveston Ball, Pearland at Clear Springs and Texas City at Barbers Hill each beginning at 7:00pm. Houston Sharpstown at La Marque begins at 7:15pm, with South Houston at Clear Falls closing out the evening at 7:30pm.
Girls’ high school hoops tips off with Dayton at Texas City at 5:45pm. La Marque at state-ranked Hitchcock begins at 6:30pm, with Friendswood at Clear Brook, Fort Bend Marshall at Clear Creek, Dobie at Clear Falls, Seven Lakes at state-ranked Clear Springs, Dickinson at Houston Eisenhower, Galveston Ball at Dawson and Pasadena at Santa Fe are 7:00pm starts.
Volleyball playoff tune-ups continue with state-ranked Friendswood at Clear Falls at 4:30pm and Texas City at Crosby at 5:30pm. Clear Creek is scheduled for a warm-up with a team and time to be named.
