LOOK FOR A BLESSING IN THE STORM

Blessing: To make happy or prosperous; a gift of divine favor; a benediction.

Storm: A disturbance in the atmosphere; a violent outburst, angry rage; a violent and rapid assault on a fortified place.

When you are in a storm, life can seem lonely and hopeless. God has not left you and has not forgotten you. He knows exactly what you are going through, and He has a plan for some good to come through for you. Even though it doesn’t look like it when you are in the storm, trust God for the good outcome.

We know Job had a storm in his life. In one day, he went from being a very rich man with thousands of oxen, sheep, camels, servants, and 10 children to losing them to a tribe of bad people, fire, and wind.

Through all of this, Job did not blame God. To be honest, it is not easy for one to say they could have done the same as Job did. In the end God gave Job back double for everything he lost.

While in your storm, keep calling on God and have faith that He will do what He said He would do. Most of the time, the storm draws us closer to God because we seek His face more.

Isaiah 55: 11– God’s Word will not return void; it will do everything He sent it to do.

Isaiah 40: 31– They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

Psalm 37: 25– I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.

There is a blessing in the storm:

Daniel 3:16–17 — Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace, said “God is able, and He will deliver us from the fiery furnace.” God did deliver them (not even smelling like smoke). Vs30 The king acknowledged their God and promoted them (Blessing).

Matthew 8:23–27 –Disciples in a ship and a storm arises. Jesus rebukes the wind and sea, and it calms down. They made it to the other side safely (Blessing).

Hurricane Ike and Harvey – Some people’s homes were unsalvageable and/or cost too much to repair. The government stepped in and built brand new homes. Some people never had a brand new home in their lives (Blessing).

A child in an abusive home – child protective services removes the child. They go to a loving family and home and are sometimes adopted. (Blessing)

A woman in an abusive situation – they go to a shelter, or church and they are shown true love. They have a better self-esteem. They do not return to abusive situations and are better than they were on the other side of the storm. (Blessing)

Refugees evacuate their country for safety, with the help of the United States and other countries, and are taken in with a better way of living (Blessing).

Even though we may not understand what is going on, remember God is still in control.

Do not look at your circumstances and want to give up. Trust God all the way and watch Him work things out.

In your storms keep looking for the blessing. This will help you go through it easier.
