Katie’s Seafood House first to join the fundraising partnership
Galveston, TX − The Battleship Texas Foundation has launched a new community fundraising initiative, “Round
Up at the Register,” offering an easy way for residents and visitors to support the continued restoration of the
historic Battleship Texas and its upcoming move to Pier 15.
Through partnerships with local island businesses, customers are invited to round their purchase total up to the
nearest dollar at checkout. Proceeds directly benefit Battleship Texas Foundation’s ongoing work to restore the
ship, preserve onboard resources, develop a world-class museum and visitor center, and expand educational
programming for students, families, and lifelong learners for generations to come.
“Every contribution, no matter the amount, plays a meaningful role in preserving this iconic piece of history,” said
Tony Gregory, president, Battleship Texas Foundation. “By simply rounding up at the register, supporters ensure
the ship remains a powerful, hands-on learning environment while creating new opportunities for the community to
connect with Texas and national history.”
Katie’s Seafood House is the first business to join the campaign, stepping forward in support of Galveston’s soonto-be newest historic attraction. “Rounding up at the register is a small gesture that can make a big difference,” said
Derrick Gutierrez, Director of Operations, Katie’s Seafood House. “We’re excited to partner with the Battleship
Texas Foundation and invite our customers to be part of restoring one of Texas’ most important historic landmarks.”
The “Round Up at the Register” campaign will be available for a limited time and offers a simple, impactful way for
the public to support preservation, education, and community engagement, one transaction at a time. To find out
more or to add your company to the campaign, please contact Olivia Warner at olivia@battleshiptexas.org.
About the Battleship Texas Foundation
The mission of the Battleship Texas Foundation is to preserve and enhance the USS Texas (BB-35) and develop this
historic ship into a premier museum and visitor attraction. It is the last remaining United States battleship to serve in
both World War I and World War II. During World War II, the ship saw action off the coast of North Africa, Normandy,
Southern France, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Decommissioned in 1948, she has operated as a museum ship for visitors
across the globe. Managed and operated by the foundation, she is currently undergoing a $75 million restoration and
museum overhaul at Gulf Copper Shipyard in Galveston
