THEALL, ENGEL HIGHLIGHT AREA’S STATE SWIMMING CONTENDERS

FOUR AREA SCHOOLS will be represented in the state swimming and diving championships,
which will be held Friday and Saturday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim
Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
Friendswood will have four performers competing for a state crown, with Oliva Theall
taking part in the girls’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly. Max Hardt will
also be involved in a pair of events as he will be in the boys’ 200-yard individual medley
and 100-yard breastroke. Also representing the Mustangs will be Lilly Ellis, who takes
part in the 1-meter dive and the boys’ 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Hardt,
Peyton Davis, Josh Haffelder and Thomas McHenry.
Clear Falls’ Greg Engel will compete in both the boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard
breastroke. The Knights will also have Vincent Huang (boys’ 200-yard individual medley)
along with their boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay team and the boys’ 400-meter relay
team bidding for gold in Austin.
Representing Clear Creek will be Jacob Bulseco (boys’ 100-yard freestyle), Cory
Shanks (girls’ 100-yard freestyle) along with the both the Wildcats girls’ 200-yard freestyle
relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.
Clear Springs will be represented by Allison Scott, who will compete in the girls’
50-yard freestyle.
