FRIENDSWOOD made its presence on the 22-5A All-District volleyball team, led
by sophomore outside hitter Ashlyn Svoboda, who was selected as the 22-5A
Most Valuable Player after helping the Mustangs advance to the 5A, Region III
final. Junior middle blocker Makensy Manbeck was chosen as the offensive MVP
while junior Tori Weatherley was named the district’s top setter.
Senior outside hitter Lauren Hubbard, senior outside hitter Elle McGown, senior
middle blocker Nicole Scott and freshman libero/outside hitter Kate Bueche were
selected to the 22-5A first team, while senior defensive specialist Hayden Carroll
and senior setter Haley Hubbard each received honorable mention status.
*Galveston Ball had junior outside hitter Logan Kelly and senior middle blocker
Tori Mallard selected to the 22-5A second team, with freshman libero Sara Gabriel
and senior Lexie Laforte received honorable mention nods.
*Santa Fe sophomore Freedom Stephenson was named the district’s top de fensive
player while sophomore outside hitter Teresa Garza, junior setter Cassidy
Taves and junior setter Elena Dondonay were named to the first team. Senior
middle blocker Jillian Gibbs, junior middle blocker Rachael Douglas, senior outside
hitter Kylie Verm and junior outside hitter Cassi Cruz were chosen to the
second team. Junior outside hitter Rylie Peters and junior defensive specialist
Shelby Freudensprung received honor mention kudos.
*For Texas City, sophomore libero/defensive specialist Macee Medina was
named to the 22-5A first team, with sophomore outside hitter Haley James and
sophomore Ashlynn Lewis made the second team. Senior setter Jennifer Herrera
and senior setter Sydney Osteen were selected as honorable mention.
LA MARQUE had two players named to the District 23-4A volleyball team, as
senior outside hitter/middle blocker Ryanne Johnson was named to the first team,
while junior Katriel Ivy received second team honors.
Junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Krishana Boyd, sophomore setter Jessica
Chavis, freshman middle blocker Iyana Moore-Graves and senior setter Jermonika
Morris were each named honorable mention. Chavis, Ivy and Johnson
were also selected to the district’s all-academic team for their work in the class room.
