Hoping everyone had a Great Thanksgiving. It is

easy to get caught up in the festivities of Thanksgiving

Day – from turkey and mashed potatoes, to pumpkin

pie and football on TV. In our family, Thanksgiving

is always a moment to reflect on what is important in

life. On this day and always, we are thankful for our

spouses, parents, children, grand-children and our

health.

And how about the Day After Thanksgiving? How

about the infamous BLACK FRIDAY Event? Your

newspaper will feel like it weighs a hundred pounds

with all the sale advertisements. I’m sure many of

you will get up at the crack of dawn to hit those sales.

It is so much fun! The crowds, standing in long lines

for that just right “super-priced” gift and maybe a little

traffic too. As for myself…NO WAY! There is nothing

that I need or want so bad to experience Black Friday.

Who needs Black Friday anyway when the Texas

City Garden Club’s Holiday Gift Shop is just around

the corner. That’s right ~ We will be hosting our 47th

Annual Gift Shop on Saturday, December 1 from 9:30

a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Nessler Center.

The Garden Club members are busy year around

preparing for this annual tradition. Hey, after 47 years

we have to be doing something right! Unlike like the

hustle and bustle of Black Friday, why not come enjoy

a relaxing day with us. Upon entering Nessler

Center, which the City decorates beautifully, you

will be greeted by the lovely ladies of the Texas City

Garden Club. The first two things you will notice are

the Baked Goods table…always very popular! Next

is the array of beautiful plants, from hanging basket,

ferns, tropical plants and poinsettias. Both the baked

goods and the plants go really fast, so get yours while

they last.

The Holiday Gift Shop draws many participants

from around the area. Many returning each year,

but there are always new and exciting booths to visit.

From woodworking to wreaths, from jewelry to handmade

products ~ the Holiday Gift Shop is a great way

to start your Christmas shopping. You will find something

for everyone on your list. And unlike Black Friday,

you can enjoy a relaxing day shopping and visiting

with friends.

Vendor booths are still available. If you would like

to participate, please contact Nancy Heard at 409-

948-8497 or 409-771-5697

Save the Date ~ We look forward to seeing you

there!
