FRIENDSWOOD’s boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams will have host of its talent bidding for state championship glory in next week’s state championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swim Center on the campus of the University of Texas.
The Mustangs boys’ team finished second in last weekend’s regional meet, while the girls’ team finished third overall.
Heading to Austin as automatic state qualifiers are:
Joe Sloan, Josh Haffelder, Max Hardt, Vinnie Gangitano: Boys’ 200-yard medley relay.
Leah Givens: Girls’ 200-yard individual medley.
Hardt: Boys’ 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke.
Olivia Theall: Girls’ 50-yard freestyle, Girls’ 100-yard butterfly.
Lily Ellis: Girls’ 1-meter diving.
Gabe Costa: Boys’ 1-meter diving.
Lezli Sisung: Girls’ 100-yard butterfly, Girls’ 100-yard backstroke.
Gangitano, Nathan Haney, Haffelder, Hardt: Boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay.
Haffelder: Boys’ 100-yard breaststroke.

The team also will have a host of call-ups:
Allison Proulx: Girls’ 200-yard freestyle.
Abigail Nelson: Girls’ 100-yard butterfly.
Sisung, Proulx, Nelson, Allie Hansen: Girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay.
Givens: Girls’ 100-yard breaststroke.
Proulx, Givens, Hansen, Theall: Girls’ 400-yard freestyle relay.
Clear Creek ISD’s schools also will be strongly represented in the state finals:
