Sunday: Sports fans not interested in the NBA All-Star Game can turn to AT&T Sportsnet Southwest for a taste of Astros baseball, starting with an offseason special at 6:00pm. Two games from the 2018 season — a June 27 tilt against the Blue Jays and a July 10 meeting against the Athletics — will be aired at 6:30pm and 9:30pm, respectively.

Monday: High school baseball teams begin the regular season, with Santa Fe at Clear Falls getting the 2019 campaign underway at 4:30pm, followed by Barbers Hill at Clear Creek at 6:00pm.

Depending on the outcome of play-in games that occurred on Friday, the boys’ basketball bi-district matchups will be determined for three area teams. La Marque played Brazosport at Alvin High School on Friday to decide the outright District 24-4A championship, while Galveston Ball awaited the loser of the Barbers Hill-Port Arthur Memorial game. Texas City, which won its first outright district title since 2004, had to wait for the play-in game between Port Neches-Groves and Cleveland before knowing when and where they’ll play their opening round game.

Hitchcock found itself in a 24-3A round-robin with Van Vleck and Palacios as the district had to decide its top three seeds. Hitchcock played Van Vleck on Friday with the prospect of a third game being played on Saturday afternoon.

Friday also determined the fate of the area’s two remaining girls’ basketball teams, which played in area round games. Clear Springs took on Dobie, while Clear Falls faced Atascoita, with the winners of each game advancing to the regional quarterfinals.

Tuesday: Three boys’ basketball teams will play in bi-district playoff contests, starting with Dickinson taking on Pearland at Dobie High School beginning at 6:00pm. Friendswood clashes with Nederland at Baytown Sterling High School at 7:00pm. Clear Creek and George Ranch will get an 8:00pm start at Pearland High School.

The softball schedule will have Clear Springs at Conroe Grand Oaks at 5:30pm, followed by Clear Creek at Spring Westfield at 6:00pm. Friendswood at Baytown Lee, Barbers Hill at Clear Brook, North Shore at Clear Falls, Galveston Ball at Goose Creek Memorial, Crosby at Santa Fe and Galena Park at Texas City are each 6:30pm starts.

On the baseball diamond, Brazoswood at Clear Springs and Hitchcock at La Marque start the evening at 6:00pm, with Angleton at Friendswood and Conroe at Texas City each beginning at 7:00pm.

A busy night of boys’ soccer will have Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls, Dickinson at Clear Lake, Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial, Galena Park at Santa Fe and Galveston Ball at Texas City each starting at 7:30pm.

Each of the girls’ soccer matches kick off at 7:30pm, as Texas City is at Galveston Ball, Clear Creek at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Clear Springs, Clear Lake at Dickinson, Goose Creek Memorial at Friendswood and Santa Fe is at Galena Park.

La Marque’s boys’ and girls’ track teams will be in action as they take part in the Sweeny Meet beginning at 4:00pm.

The boys’ golf team of Clear Creek plays host at Timber Creek Golf Club in Friendswood, as Clear Brook will be among the schools participating. Clear Creek’s girls’ golf team is the host school for a meet at South Shore Harbor Country Club, while Texas City welcomes a host of girls’ golf teams at Bayou Golf Club.
