IT WILL BE A SUPER TUESDAY OF area boys’ high school basketball as seven area teams will open their postseason runs with bi-district round games throughout the region.

The evening gets underway when state-ranked La Marque hosts Houston Furr in a 4A, Region III contest, with state-ranked Dickinson clashing with Alief Hastings at Fort Bend ISD’s Hopson Field House beginning at 6:00pm.

Four teams will start their potential runs to San Antonio at 7:00pm. Clear Creek meets Pearland at Pasadena ISD’s Phillips Field House (6A, Region III) while Friendswood takes on Port Arthur Memorial at Baytown Lee College (5A, Region III). Galveston Ball squares off against Nederland at Deer Park High School (5A, Region III), with Texas City takes on Barbers Hill at La Porte High School (5A, Region III).

The action concludes at 8:00pm when Clear Brook plays George Ranch at Dawson High School in a 6A, Region III matchup.

Hitchcock is also participating in the postseason, but the Bulldogs had to wait for the winners of Friday’s play-in between New Waverly and Trinity.

All roads will lead to the boys’ state Final Four in San Antonio, which will be held March 12-14 at the Alamodome. The most recent appearance by in the state tourney by an area boys’ team came during the 2015-16 season when La Marque advanced to the state semifinals and lost a 62-59 nail biter to eventual state champion Dallas Lincoln.
