Every year, as part of the countywide Charles T. Doyle Leadership Education & Development Series (LEADS) program, Texas First Bank and the Doyle family give scholarships to seniors at the top of their class. Since we couldn’t gather in person this year, we held a special event yesterday to recognize our seniors!
The first scholarship we gave out is the #LEADS Principal Honors Scholarship, recognizing a #TCHS student in the Top 5% of his or her class. This year’s $2,000 scholarship recipient is Brayden Torres, who was also able to choose a teacher to honor, and Ms. Reda Devries will receive a $500 award as well. Congratulations!
The second scholarship we gave out is actually FIVE $1,000 awards. LEADS is a leadership development program for high school juniors and seniors across the county. Every fall and spring, students apply and are chosen to attend a day of learning with topics ranging from volunteerism to careers to financial literacy and team building. Seniors who attend all four LEADS events that they are eligible for are put into the drawing for this scholarship and their names are usually drawn at the spring LEADS event. As you saw yesterday, we drew the names and we’d like to send a BIG CONGRATS to our recipients:
• Alexis Bratton – Ball HS
• Jenna Hocutt – Texas City High School
• Aalana James – Texas City High School
• Mikayla Flowers – Santa Fe High School
• Anisa Jo Rocha – O’Connell Prep
Each of them will receive a $1,000 LEADS scholarship.
Congratulations to all of our graduating seniors! We are so proud of you and wish you the best of luck no matter what your future holds.
