Herman and Gertrude Guillory were honored as Dedicated Members of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, located at 302 Oak Street in Texas City. Among the honors the couple received were having the church foyer decorated with pictures and flowers for two weeks along with the theme, “It is well with my soul.” The Guillorys were also given a treasured gift for their home.
The Guillorys are the proud parents of Valencia Temple, Kerry Siverand, Russell Williams, Ramona McCray, Roselyn Guillory and Herman Guillory Jr. (deceased). They have six grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
Herman is a renown Christian gospel artist who has travelled throughout the country singing and serving the Lord with his wife, who remains strong in mission work and works in several auxiliaries and holds several positions within the church. The Guillorys have been members of Rising Star for more than 30 years.
Faithful members of the choir and Bible Study, the couple’s tireless courage to inspire others in the community to serve has not been unnoticed.
Rev. D.N. Benford, who will celebrate 70 years at Rising Star later this year, is the Pastor of the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church.

70 years as pastor of one church? Some churches can barely have a pastor 7 years. But wow ,70 is unheard of!
