
AREA CROSS-COUNTRY PERFORMERS will be off and running in Huntsville on Monday and Tuesday with an opportunity to advance to the state finals later this month. The new week also has a host of high school girls’ basketball contests along with state-ranked Friendswood beginning to wrap up the regular season and prepare for another run at the state title.
Sunday: The Texans return from their bye week to visit the Jaguars in an AFC South matchup beginning at 12:00pm. KHOU-11 will have the game live.
Cowboys fans can keep it on the same channel as Dallas hosts undefeated Pittsburgh beginning at 3:25pm. The Fox-26 game will be Chicago at Tennessee, which kicks off at 12:00pm.
Monday: State championship bids will be on the line as both Class 5A and 6A cross-country runners meet at Kate Barr Memorial Park in Huntsville in the regional finals. The two-day event will determine who heads to Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock for the state finals on November 23-24.
Two girls’ basketball games are on the schedule as La Marque at Wharton starts at 6:30pm and Clear Creek at New Caney tips off at 7:00pm.
Texas City High School’s softball team continues its fall schedule with a 7:30 home date against Deer Park.
Tuesday: It’s the first Tuesday of the 2020-21 girls’ high school basketball season, and it is filled with action across the area. Galveston Ball at Clear Lake and state-ranked Hitchcock at Brazosport starts at 6:00pm, followed by state-ranked Clear Springs at Shadow Creek, Dickinson at Dobie and Santa Fe at Crosby beginning at 7:00pm. The evening ends with Clear Brook at Goose Creek Memorial.
The high school volleyball regular season continues as Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial starts at 4:30pm. Katy Tompkins at Clear Creek begins at 5:30pm, with state-ranked Friendswood at Baytown Sterling and La Porte at Santa Fe each getting underway at 6:30pm.
Texas City’s girls’ high school golf team will be among those participating at South Shore Harbour Country Club in a meet hosted by Clear Creek.
