An anonymous and very caring supporter has committed a $10,000 matching gift to support the summer programs of The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Texas City. Your gift of $20 becomes $40 if given by May 15.

With the kids coming to spend the whole day through the week, costs will naturally go up as more people join the team to make sure everyone is safe and well-supervised. The summer program is an extremely affordable option for kids ages 6-12 with a weekly fee of $20.00 per week. The summer session begins June 7 and runs for 10 weeks, Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5:30pm. Programming is a combination of recreational and academic activities following the curriculum of the Boys & Girls Club of America that is designed to help the kids continue to grow and learn through the summer so that they do not lose ground. There is a limit of 50 for the program.

Early estimates for summer program are about $100,000 which will cover extra transportation for field trips, admission fees that aren’t covered by campers, extra materials, additional staff and everything else that goes into making a summer fun and safe for up to 50 kids at a time! Your early gift will help determine hiring and programming decisions.

As always, The Salvation Army is completely dependent on the support of the community for the services it can provide. If you want to double your gift and change lives this summer, send your gift marked Summer Day Camp Challenge Grant to PO Box 990, Galveston, TX 77553 or give online at https://www.salvationarmytexas.org/texascitybgc/
